Job Description:
Provides overall leadership to the Meat team. Responsible for
daily operations, profitability, expense control, buying,
merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects.
Accountable for Team Member hiring, development, and separations.
Ensures a positive company image by providing courteous service to
customers and Team Members. Maintains adherence to store Standard
Operating Procedures and supports WFM core values and goals.
Promotes national, regional, and store programs and
initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Holds Team Members accountable for delivering outstanding
customer service.
- Makes hiring and separation decisions.
- Monitors and achieves sales, purchasing, and labor
targets.
- Projects annual sales and expenses and prepares operating
budget.
- Manages ordering and inventory to achieve targeted profit
margin.
- Establishes and maintains positive vendor
relationships.
- Sustains knowledge of competitors and industry trends.
- Sets and achieves highest standards of retail
execution.
- Fosters a positive environment of teamwork and exceptional
morale.
- Maintains awareness of customer flows and needs.
- Selects, trains, develops, and motivates Team Members.
- Communicates and maintains Team Member safety and security
standards.
- Provides timely performance evaluations.
Job Skills:
- Sustains knowledge of competitors and industry trends.
- Advanced knowledge of products, buying, pricing, and inventory
management.
- Food safety certification.
- Certified Meat Journeyman or equivalent training.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship
skills.
- Capable of teaching others in a positive manner.
- Thorough product knowledge.
- Advanced knowledge of regulatory policies.
- Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial
performance.
- Demonstrated decision-making ability and leadership
skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operations-related
applications.
Experience:
- 24+ months retail experience including 12+ months of team
leadership experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifts 50 pounds.
- Standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day.
- Must handle knives and other cutting equipment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
- Ability to use tools and equipment.
